Anxiety and depression are no longer uncommon struggles; they’re the norm for many. Maybe you’ve felt isolated, lonely, or overwhelmed. Maybe the stress has compounded, especially if your kids are grappling with their own emotional imbalances. Our team of compassionate counselors is here to help. With secure, convenient Teletherapy, we provide evidence-based mental health care tailored just for you. We are here to provide support, whether you have new struggles or unresolved issues from your past.

What Is Teletherapy? The Basics You Need to Know

Teletherapy is like having your therapist meet you where you are—virtually. Instead of driving to an office, you connect with your counselor through a live video call over the internet. Think of it as FaceTime or Skype but designed specifically for mental health sessions. During your session, you and your therapist can see, hear, and talk to each other in real time using webcams, microphones, or mobile devices. The care you receive is every bit as effective as in-person therapy—but with added privacy and convenience.

What You’ll Need for a Smooth Teletherapy Session

Getting started with Teletherapy is easy, but you’ll want to ensure you have the right setup for a seamless experience.

Essential Equipment:

  • Device: A computer, tablet, or smartphone. No special apps or software required.
  • Camera and Microphone: An external or built-in webcam and mic work perfectly.
  • Internet Connection: A bandwidth of at least 10 Mbps is recommended.

Pro tip: Use an Ethernet cable instead of Wi-Fi when possible for a more stable connection.
Before your session, close any background apps hogging your bandwidth—especially ones that might access your camera.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT is based on the concept that your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected and can impact your mental state. Negative thoughts and feelings can trap you in a negative cycle that is hard to break. CBT helps to identify your current issues. CBT works to challenge and change these negative patterns to improve the way you feel.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy or DBT helps people develop skills to manage their emotions, tolerate distress, and improve their relationships. DBT is based on self-acceptance while at the same time working to make improvements in understanding and managing strong emotions. A cornerstone of DBT is to learn new coping skills and to create healthy habits of mindfulness.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

CPT is a trauma-focused therapy that is one of the most effective ways to treat PTSD. The main focus of this therapy is to repair the damage done to a person’s belief system about themselves and about the world after experiencing a trauma. CPT allows a client to process the trauma in a gentle but effective way. It involves identifying stuck points that often get in the way of healing.

Depression varies from mild to severe. Many people report feelings of sadness that won’t go away, feeling tired and unmotivated, and not wanting to socialize. Some people can’t get out of bed and even have thoughts of self-harm. Treatment can be successful with CBT and DBT therapies.

People experiencing anxiety may have excessive worry, racing thoughts, or fears of being alone, along with physical symptoms of feeling sweaty, heart racing, or hyperventilating.  CBT and DBT therapies have been successfully used to treat symptoms of anxiety.

Trauma may be from a recent experience or may have happened long ago and remains unresolved. People may suffer from negative intrusive thoughts or images during the day or have nightmares during sleep. CPT therapy was designed to help people with PTSD in a gentle but effective way.
